Risk & Reliability Associates (R2A) is an independent firm of consulting engineers specialising in technical due diligence arguments and expert risk management advice for a wide range of industries including rail, road, aviation, power, water and the process industry.

R2A is a professional (as opposed to commercial) practice. That is, R2A income is derived from client fees only. R2A partners and staff are generally seen as trusted, casual employees of the client organisation. The kind of people that can be called and asked to complete a task without complicated commercial agreements. It means that effort expended to complete a task will be transparently reported and expenses will be appropriate to the task as if it were done by the client in-house, namely, efficiently and frugally.

In house intellectual property and software are provided free to clients for the purposes of the commissions.

R2A invests heavily in research and development. Whilst the practice has a range of sophisticated techniques available for solving complex technical problems, it always endeavours to use simple, fast methodologies whenever sensible.

All R2A advice to clients is underpinned by a belief that the identification and recommendation of sensible precautions against all credible threats ensures that legal due diligence is satisfied. If there are a large number of recommendations, then prioritisation and ranking of feasible solutions in payback terms will be crucial in arriving at a useful, defensible result.
