The R2A System of Work is the framework by which Risk & Reliability Associates undertakes its client commissions. It has been developed over a number of years and undergoes continuous refinement. The hierarchy of understanding shown appears essential when attempting to model risk and reliability issues in complex technological systems. Failure to appreciate the context of any model will make the meaning of the results, at the very least, ambiguous. It is imperative that all interested parties understand how a model has been derived, what its inherent limitations are and when and where it can be sensibly applied.

Typically when the process involves ensuring the context is sound using top down techniques initially and then considering the bottom up aspect to test for the value of particular precautions.
